DOMINIQUE FUNG & HEIDI LAU

LYRA is proud to support the upcoming major presentation of work by artists Dominique Fung and Heidi Lau, at thethree unique sites throughout the fabric of San Francisco. Brooklyn-based artists, Fung and Lau will create new work specifically for their San Francisco debuts. Both artists’ practice independently engage with the cyclical rhythm of life, death, and rebirth across the material and spiritual worlds.

The exhibition will open in Winter 2026.

Their shared artistic and thematic sensibilities reflect a years-long affinity with both celestial and terrestrial cycles that extend beyond the physical realm into the post-human. Dominique Fung will present her most ambitious work to date, the 88-foot-long A Tale of Ancestral Memories. ICA SF’s exhibition marks the painting’s US debut, previously shown only once for three days as part of Art Basel Unlimited 2024. Fung will also present four new paintings commissioned by ICA SF for the exhibition: these works will trace the four seasons, unfolding as processions through time.

Heidi Lau will produce a constellation of ceramic vessels, a suspended oyster bed which mirrors the rhythms and cycles of the exterior world. These robotic ceramic oysters hang dramatically from the ceiling, with movement programmed to mimic the organic nature of oysters opening in the wild. Lau’s commissioned presentation brings together her traditional innovations in ceramic practice and a new medium of robotic technology, a first for the artist.
